Plastic profile extrusion processing is so complicated that we can not judge the rationality of the design until the die has been sampled. CAE technology would optimize the die channel design by simulating extrusion processing in computers.Parametric modeling of extrusion die is the base of applying CAE technology. Feature-based parametric modeling technique has applied to the research on the plastic profile extrusion die. The main work is as follow:The plastic profile extrusion die has been categorized according to the shape of the profile and manufacture method of die. The feature definition and feature classification methods of the extrusion die part have been studied.A extrusion die part feature model including the part information in all life cycle has been set up . The technique feature, management feature, precision feature, material feature and shape feature constitute a organic whole by the citation and affiliation among the interactional features, which lay foundation of integrating CAD/CAPP/CAM/CAE.The shape feature, precision feature and material feature have been studied primarily. The use function of each extrusion die part has been defined.The shape feature has been divided into main shape feature and secondary shape feature.Parameters of all the structures of each part have been given. A parametric feature model library of extrusion die part is built on SolidWorks.The extrusion die channel is composed of three sections: transportation section, transition section and dicing section. The functions based on CAE of the three sections have been clarified. Parametric model of plastic complicated profile die channel has been set up according to CAE optimization object.The 3D parametric modeling of transportation section of extrusion die bas been studied specially.The parametric equation of extrusion channel has been given by integrating the research methods of the others.Lastly the procedure system which can build the transportation section of extrusion die channel automatically after obtaining the outside shape of the profile is developed, using Visual Basic as developing tool based on SolidWorks. It is easy to construct the extrusion die channel using the procedure system. And the integration of CAD/CAE is fulfilled directly.
