SiC particulated-reinforced 7000 series metal-matrix composites were prepared by spray co-deposition with moving crucible. In this paper, the processing regularities of spray co-deposition were researched and analyzed, as well as extrusion and heat treatment. The main conclusions are drawn as following:(l)The billets were prepared and the size of the grains was between 1 and 2um. So it can be concluded that the cooling rate is about 103~ 105K/s, which is higher than that in conventional spray deposition. The mechanical properties of the extruded bar are listed as following: 7075/SiCp, ab=330MPa, as=146, 8=12% 7093/SiCp, ab=390MPa, crs=192, 5=10%.(2) Based on an intensive analysis on the process of heat treatment, the final heat treatment processing parameters are shown as following:7075/SiCp, 470℃ × 1h+ 120℃ ×24h 7093/SiCp, 475℃ × 1h+ 120℃ ×24h.And the mechanical properties of the heat-treated bars are listed as following:7075/SiCp, ab=735MPa, os=655, 8=8% 7093/SiCp, CTb=735MPa, crs=630, 8=5%.(3) SiC particles increase the degree of hardness and Young's modulus of 7000 series aluminum alloys. At the same time, plasticity is good.(4) The wear-resisting properties of 7000 series metal-matrix composites are excellent compared with that of matrix alloys and Al-Si alloys. The above results have shown that 7000 series metal-matrix composites with high performance can be produced by spray co-deposition with subsequent extrusion and heat treatment. |
