Stamping-die, which belongs to short period and much variety products, is the important machining equipment for modern industrial products .The speedup of industrial products update has put forward high request to the designing quality and efficiency of stamping die, so it is inevitable trend to adopt CAD technology in designing stamping die according to its different characteristic in different application fields.This thesis deals with the research and development of stamping die CAD system for carriage. We set up the systematic function model and systematic framework according to the content and characteristic of carriage stamping die design. The whole system includes four modules: finished part information processing module, craft quality analyse and calculating module, stamping die structure design module and two-dimentional drawing creating module. Of the four modules, stamping die structure design module is the emphases in the thesis. Its main work is to design and assemble the stamping die parts.The system runs under WindosNT operating system, regards SolidWorks as the developing platform and Visual Basic6.0 as the programming tool to develop. System adopts DLL technology to set up parts creating library and adopts different part creating strategies according to the different characteristic of standard parts and special-purpose parts. To the standard parts: system selects MS SQLServer7.0 to set up standard parts database in server computer, adopts OLE DB and ADO technology to access the standard parts database and uses parameters to driven standard part models to create standard parts. To special-purpose parts: System adopts the method combined with automatic design and human- computer interaction design.This system has finished and achieved the anticipated function and performance index. Comparing with designing by hand, the application of stamping die CAD system for carriage makes the design efficiency raise by 3-6 times .
