This study is aimed at the basic application of purifying low concentration sulfur dioxide by using immobilized cells method. The main content includes the selection of suitable bacteria, the choosing of best immobilize condition, the performance of immobilized cells on treating sulfur dioxide and the amelioration to optimize the characteristic of immobilized cell beads.Through the experiment, the immobilized cell beads show a good performance to purify sulfur dioxide. Under the optimal condition, when the inlet concentration of SO2 was kept below 5000mg/m3, the purification efficiency could achieve more than 90%. In addition, meliorating of immobilized cell beads could improve its treatment performance.
