Effect of surface treating brucite powder with solution of novel polymeric coupling agent ABS-g-MAH, titanate TC-114 and TSC, aluminate DL-411A and surface active agent stearic acid was investigated and compared through measures of mechanical and processing properties, contact angle, micrograph, IR and velocity of horizontal flaming .It was found that solution of ABS-g-MAH treating had the best effect of all the treating agents. TC-114 and stearic acid were suitable for brucite flame-retarding (FR) ABS.Systems of brucite FR ABS and brucite/DBDPO/Sb2O3 FR ABS and ABS/PVC were studied. FR ABS having low halogen content with FH-1 grade and notched impact strength 6.6 KJ/M2 was prepared. It showed that brucite had good smoke-suppression and char-formation effect. ATH and brucite had synegism in FR ABS. Micron brucite FR ABS had better mechanical and FR property. CPE could increase impact strength of ABS/brucite obviously. PVC could increase FR and impact property of ABS/brucite. |
