Ball mill is the most common grinding equipment in processing, chemical, metallurgical and material, therefore, in the process of work, requires ball mill has high security and reliability to ensure the normal production and avoid major economic losses. However, the actual data show that the main reason for failure is caused by the rotating body, reflected in the cracking of the cylinder and end caps and bolts sudden breaking. Therefore, the analysis of ball mill and cover, checking the cylinder flange bolts has extremely important significance to improve the fatigue strength of the reliability of ball mill and ensure security and stability in milling process.In order to study and solve these problems, the paper takes the MQCG2736 as research object, based on the structure and working principle of ball mill, research on mechanical properties of ball mill system and failure analysis of its key components. Specifically includes the following aspects:(1) The cylinder body materials and crushing medium theoretical analysis and parameter calculation, which make preparation for the subsequent finite element analysis of strength;(2) The paper combined crushing medium kinematic analysis calculated mill still in full, normal working conditions and starting load, utilized the finite element software ANSYS to analyze the strength, stiffness analysis and modal analysis of the rotator in three typical conditions, and determined the stress distribution and rotation deformation of the rotator, inspecting the ball mill meeting the authentication strength and stiffness of the design requirements, also extracted the first ten step modes and natural frequencies that are much higher than the operating frequency of the mill, which ensures the resonance cannot occur.(3) This work calculates suffered loads of coupling bolts, the thesis analysis tensile load of the bolt under the action of stress amplitude, and checks its fatigue and static strength, drawing the conclusion that the bolt will not broke suddenly during normal operation of the mill.(4) The paper also analyzes the feed cover crack, obtaining risking location of cover crack and its reasons, gives the proposed measures.The paper provided a reference for mill rotor design, bolts strength check, cracks of the cover and other research in the future, ensured the safe production in the ball mill under the premise of minimizing the probability of failure, brought huge economic benefits to the enterprise.
