Biomass energy is a kind of renewable clean energy resource. With the energy and environmental problems becoming serious, more and more attention has been paid to it. As one of the most efficient and rapid development of biomass utilization method, there has been a problem in biomass power generation technology that how to effectively removal the impurities in the fuel gas. Aiming at the low collection efficiency of cyclone separator and the problems of bag filter and ceramic filters are choked up with fly ash and tar, theoretical analysis, the performance of biomass gas discharge and the test of dust removal in wet electrostatic precipitator(WEPS) are performed to explore the feasibility of gas purification of biomass generation by WEPS.Firstly, biomass dust are characterized by scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectroscopy. In addition, the particle size distribution of biomass dust is measured by laser particle size distribution. Secondly, the influence of gas pressure and gas composition on V-I characteristics is got from the test that simulating static discharge in gas discharge device by biomass gas as medium. Furthermore, based on using WEPS to remove biomass dust, the collection efficiency of WEPS under different influence factors are obtained. What’s more, the comparison has been made for the collection efficiency of dry electrostatic precipitator and WEPS. Finally, the gas purification process of biomass power generation technology is designed under working condition. The results show that:(1) The organized structure of biomass dust is loose. It mainly contains such elements as C, O, Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, Fe and so on, with the median diameter of 26.05 μm.(2) It can take advantage of ESP technology for biomass gas purification, because biomass gas can build inception voltage inside the electrostatic precipitator.(3) Under the same condition, the higher the wind speed in electric field and the tar concentration, the lower the collection efficiency is. However, the collection efficiency gradually increases along with the water pressure increasing. It is good for improving collection efficiency by adding alkali to the washing water.(4) The wet electrostatic precipitator is applied to the gas purification of biomass power generation. It not only exhibit high collection efficiency, but also solve the problem on the gas from wet cleaner easily taking droplet.The experimental researches above show that wet electrostatic precipitator is applied to gas purification of biomass power generation, which is able to make the dust concentration down to 10mg/m3 or less. After processing, the dust concentration of biomass gasification gas can satisfy the requirement of the gas turbine for power generation.
