To improve the present iron-sillicon ratio in China, it was meaningful to develop new type of efficient anti-hematite flotation collector to solve the current producting problem on hematite. In this paper, the synthesis of polyamines collectors and performance on flotation of hematite and quartz was reseached; and then to investigate the mechanism of action between collectors and quartz by means of Zeta potential, IR, etc. Structural properties of polyamines collector and dodecylamine were analyzed by using some surfactant methods.Melamine acetal and ethylenediamine acetal schiff bases collectors were synthesized with melamine, ethylenediamine and aliphatic aldehydes as the main raw material. N-substituted alkyl diamine were synthesized with ethylenediamine,propanediamine, butanediamine and long-chain alkyl bromides as the main raw material. And the structures of the polyamines collectors were characterized through melting point determination, IR and 1HNMR.Four excellent performance polyamines collectors including undecanal ethylene-diamine, N-dodecyl ethylenediamine, N-decanyl propanediamine and N-octyl butane-diamine were screened out by pre-flotation tests. Following, after studing the flotation performance and mechanism of the four polyamines collectors and dodecylamine, relationships of polyamine structure and its flotation properties were probed.Single mineral flotation tests showed that polyamines collectors collect quartz and hematite stronger than dodecylamine, but the amount was smaller. When the pulp p H was a weak acid, it was better to capture quartz. When the pulp p H was a weak base, it was better to capture hematite.Artificial mixed mineral flotation tests showed that the best p H value of poly-amines collectors and dodecylamine capturing artificial mixed mineral was five approximately. Compared with dodecylamine, sorting effect of polyamines collectors capturing artificial mixed mineral was better, hematite recovery of concentrates being up to about 90.0% and iron grade of concentrates being more than 60.0%.HLB values 、 polar group electronegativities and CMC values of polyamine collectors and dodecylamine were calculated in the perspective of surfactant.Relation-ships of polyamine structure and its flotation properties were probed.Strongly chemisorption phenomena between polyamines and the surface of thequartz could be determined by Zeta potential, IR and contact angles. Some physical and chemical properties of the surface of the quartz were changed after action between polyamines and surface of the quartz. Finally, the test purpose of improving iron and reducing silicon was achieved because it was easier to capture the quartz.
