Study On Water Source Pollution Management Planning Of Dongfeng County Urban Area Water Supply

Dongfeng County is situated in western bank of the Daliu River and upstream of the Huifa River who is in the south of Jilin Province, that is to say it is located between Liaoyuan County and Dongfeng County. Dongfeng Town is the place where Dongfeng County Government is located and is the center of Dongfeng County in terms of political, economics and culture. Renhe Reservoir is the main water source for Dongfeng County and is the only water source for Dongfeng Town. Renhe Reservoir is a middle-sized reservoir with main functions on flood protection and water supply, and also combined with functions of irrigation and cultivation, etc. Water supply is not available in cottage area and shanty town of Dongfeng Town at present. Mostly of the residents live on underground water. The quality of underground water is bad and contents of iron and manganese is excessive, which is harmful to people health and Keshan disease is found typically in this area of Jilin Province. In order to meet the need of portable water and industrial consumption, the local government decides to construct Liudaogou Reservoir and Anfu Reservoir as the second water source for Dongfeng Town. Affecting by upstream water and soil loss and agricultural non-point pollution, Liudaogou Reservoir and Anfu Reservoir should be protected urgently in terms of water source protection and basin ecological protection, which will guarantee the water source function of the two reservoirs. This will perfect water quality of the reservoirs, enhance people living and safeguard environmental rights and interests.The task aims at incorporating issues existed in Dongfeng County, providing a protection plan for Dongfeng County water source, and constructing Liudaogou Reservoir and Anfu Reservoir as the second water source.
