With the outstanding issues of mineral resources which have become increasingly prominent "poor, small, miscellaneous",the recovery of micro-fine mineral has been a difficult and hot research, Falcon centrifugal concentrator developed in recent years as an cient gravity concentration equipment broke the limit of traditional recycling equipment, can effectively recover micro-fine mineral. The semi-batch equipment Falcon SB series was chose as the study object, simulation and experimental studies were done on hindered –setting process of mineral pulp in Falcon experimental machine, main research contents are:Separation principles and application of Falcon centrifugal concentrator were researched. The structures, operating characteristics of three different models of Falcon centrifugal concentrators were,and the influence of new structure characteristics on separation effect were analyzed. Based on present successful application of Falcon, the advantages of recycling the mineral was analyzed through industrial examples.The settling principles and relevant parameters were researched, which will provide theoretical basis to establish a Falcon centrifugal separator interference settling model. Firstly, the setting mechanism of Falcon SB centrifugal concentrator was analyzed according to the partition and stress distribution; then physical variables of pulp, the structure and operating variables which affect the performance of Falcon centrifugal concentrator separation were studied; lastly, related equipment parameters were designed based on setting mechanism and separation performance.The hindered-setting model of Falcon was established based on convection diffusion equation. Firstly, according to the movement character of pulp in the centrifuge concentrator, the convection diffusion equation was brought in; then, the unsteady process of concentration and velocity when they changes and the different settlement of different sizes were taken into account, the hindered-setting model of each position, each moment, each particle size were established.The mathematic setting model was solved. Firstly, the model was solved through finite difference method, control equation was discretized through central difference format to solve the concentration, and new discretization equation were established for the special position of element 1 and element N; then, the concentration in the process of initial fluidization was divided into three kinds, the discretization equation was refined; besides, space and size step were determined according to the stability conditions; lastly, according to the model the concentration was solved using the MATLAB programming.The feasibility of the model was verified by different experiments, and simulation analysis was done. Firstly, experimental system was constructed, experiments particle size distribution curve was compared with model particle size distribution curve, the correctness of the model was verified; then, simulation of different centrifugal force, reverse injection water,ore concentration were analyzed; lastly, sorting size d50 and possible deviation EP were chosen as the evaluation index to analyze the influence of different operating conditions on particle size distribution rate and separation efficiency, results show that As the flow increase particle size distribution ratio reduce, d50 increase and EP reduce;as the ore concentration increase particle size distribution ratio reduce, d50 increase and EP reduce; as the centrifugal force increase particle size distribution ratio increase, d50 reduce and EP reduce.
