Combined with "large aircraft and aviation engines for major equipment manufacturing information comprehensive application of demonstration" project, "Shanxi provincial key laboratory of special processing projects:weapons laser remanufacturing key technology research". With the development of the aviation enterprises demand, for in many aviation parts have the characteristics of thin wall features, more complex structure, big difficulty in processing and easy deformation etc. How to quickly select the appropriate CNC lathe for design quality and production efficiency is especially critical.In this paper, the author has spent a lot of time in modeling CNC lathes which the structure is quite similar and wide range of applications. Querying related design manuals must be repeated in this process, consumes a lot of time and energy. For this kind of situation and the lack of application of enterprise’s product data management, the author studied the construction of the CNC lathes repository based on MBD techniques. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) The definition of the MBD CNC lathes parametric model. First introduce MBD (Model Based Definition) technology applications. Classifying CNC lathe based on structural features and the characteristics of using. Analysis domestic and foreign research’s present situation and research background. According to enterprises’actual production conditions, build a typical CNC lathe parts repository based on MBD, combined with the current technology situation and demand of CNC lathe design. This can effectively improve the design efficiency, shorten the product cycles.(2) Processing with kinds of design knowledge of CNC lathe. First, the content and the connotation and acquisition of knowledge are introduced. As for the knowledge contained in CNC lathes’design, such as design experience, the original model, design manuals, customers’ requirement and others use Oracle database stored in PDM system. Use Teamcenter product configuration management, workflow management modules and etc for the integrated management of above kind of knowledge. Realize the basic function such as query, store, modify, and others basic functions.(3) The application of PDM system for various types of CNC lathes knowledge management. In order to facilitate enterprise’management and maintain MBD model and related technical documents. In this paper, construct a platform based on the digital enterprise product data management is the goal. And combine with the current status of the selected Teamcenter platform construction. From the business process design, process configuration, flow application and other several aspects of the application. Through examples, a detailed description of product data management platform is constructing. Not only have realized in the environment of PDM software of data and documents for effective management, but also implements various kind of software’s information sharing, each user’s cooperative work, design information and management information integration under the environment of PDM.
