Dry gas seal(running dry gas seal) is an based on the technology of slotted non contact gas seal.Although it is derived from the mechanical seal,but compared with mechanical seal,it can effectively reduce wear, energy consumption, repair, the more important is that it can reduce leak.Therefore, with rapidly developing,it plays an important role in petrochemical industry.Compared with mechanical seal,dry gas seal changes little in structure,it Just engraved with the shape of a certain dynamic pressure groove on the surface rotating ring.For example,there are spiral groove,T groove,arc groove,herringbone groove, rectangular groove and so on The research object of this paper is the spiral groove.Just because of these grooves,When it rotating up,the working gas is sucked into the dynamic pressure groove.with the increase of gas inhalation,the working gas is compressed in the bottom of dynamic pressure groove,making pressure up.Then the working gas pull over the sealing grooves onto sealing surface, making the dynamic and static ring separated completely.So the dry gas seal reach to frictionless state.This paper studies characteristics of dry gas seal by two steps,one is numerical simulation,another is experimental research.In the experimental stage of the Xi’an Shiyou University dry gas seal test rig.In the numerical simulation stage,a three-dimensional model of dry gas seal was built by Pro E,meshing model by Gambit,calculated by FLUENT,getting the result of dry gas seal running data.Analysis the results of numerical simulation and experimental,obtain the optimally parameters, so as to get a optimized range to illuminate the optimization design of dry gas seal.Selecting the static geometric parameters of fixed seal ring,with nitrogen as the sealing medium,changing the speed and pressure,by measuring the change rate of the leakage value and power,to see the effect of the speed and pressure on the performance of the dry gas seal.The test results show that,with the speed and pressure increase power consumption and leakage increased gradually,at the same time,along with the increase of speed,sealing surface separated gradually,forming stable gas film at the speed reaches about 2500 rpm,the friction torque get minimum,then as the speed increase,the friction torque get raised.
