Water is the basic substance of all creatures on the planet, and related with life and production of human closely. Shortage and pollution is the two problems of our country’s water, and they are increasing year by year. Water quality can not meet the functional requirements of waters has become one of the main problems faced by many domestic rivers. This increasingly serious pollution of water reduces its use functions, and also threats to safety of residents’ drinking water, thereby affecting people’s health. China’s current water situation has seriously hindered the sustainable development of the country. With the continued economic development, the degree of water pollution can not fall down certainly. Our water pollution control strategy will be faced with many challenges, it be certainly required from end control to source control. Real-time remote monitoring of water quality is therefore very critical. In recent years, with the development of Wireless sensor networks (WSN) technology and the needs of the environmental monitoring, WSN is widely applicated in many areas of science and industry, such as environmental monitoring, oilfield monitoring, habitat monitoring, etc. Water quality monitoring is one of the applications of WSN. The system constitutes network monitoring, data acquisition, statistical analysis and graphics display. The requirement data would be intuitively showed to user by remote information management platform.In this paper, a sewage monitoring system based on WSN remote information management platform was developed by using the platform C++6.0 and the MySQL database. The system was capable of reception and storage the data which was transferred to a remote monitoring center by WSN, gived an alarm for emergencies like water contamination, dispalyed real-time curve of changing all the time, and also queried historic data. Firstly, the paper briefly introduced the frame of the sewage monitoring system, and then the developed process of remote information management platform was introduced. The concept of platform was designed modular data approach, including communication module, human-computer interaction module, and database module. The paper discussed the design and implementation of each module in detail. Finaly, it carried on the system test, including safety test, communication test, function test of main interface, and query test.The testing results show that the remote information management platform is capable of running stability, function without exception, extensibility and good compatibility, reached the original design requirements, and having certain application value.
