With the continuous development of industry, human demand for fossil fuels continues to rise, sustained increase in CO2 emissions has led the greenhouse effect, causing global warming. Meanwhile, natural gas exploration have developed high CO2 gas fields, a comprehensive resource for CO2 utilization become focus of attention of countries. CO2 capture, storage and use of technology(CCUS) came into being. CO2 transport is an important part of CO2 from capture to storage or to use, and the important part which connected to the recovery and permanent storage locations. This paper mainly discuss CO2 pipeline optimization techniques. This paper investigates the typical CO2 pipeline transport project and research status, and preliminary summary of the CO2 pipeline law. Due to the special physical properties of CO2(lower critical temperature and critical pressure), so first, study the physical properties of pure CO2 and impure CO2 physical properties and correlative discipline by Hysys software simulation. Make a research and analysis for supercritical CO2 characteristics. Then, study of comparing the transmission phase, equation of state, calculation of the optimal diameter, establish the CO2 pipeline parameter optimization models. Meanwhile establish the economic model of CO2 pipeline, as the optimization objective function to optimize diameter and transmission pressure. In the end, for a given optimization problem examples, simulate pipeline gas physical parameters by Hysys software and calculate the optimal diameter by Matlab programming, under the economic model for the optimization objective function, based on the phase stability and lowest cost of CO2 pipeline, to obtain the optimum transport diameter and pressure, and make the sensitivity analysis of pipe inlet temperature and ambient temperature.
