Preparation Of Water-based Automotive Paint

The purpose of this study is to prepare a kind of water-based automotive coatings. The coating is mainly used in color paint layer. Firstly, based on the different types available in the market of water-based resin, we conducted the performance test, and many physical properties of the films have been obtained. Secondly, we conducted the research on paint formulations, mainly for metallic paint and other color paint. The film properties have been studied in detail with or without adding cross-linking agent, the study on the metal arrangement of pigment also have been concerned.Based on the above research, we determined the cross-linkable acrylic emulsion as the mainly resin and the melamine resin as a cross-linking agent. Cooperating with some suitable additives, the water-based automotive color paint have been prepared. The performance of the as-prepared comprehensive water-based color paint fully matched with the requirements of automotive paint.
