Along with the rapid development of our country's industrialization, natural ecological environment suffers from serious damages, and the task of environmental protection becomes more and more important. In the electric power industry, caused by coal-fired power plant, the emission of the contaminants such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides and greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide has a growing trend, which should be drawn sufficient attention. Usually, environmental monitoring stations scatter in location, and with harsh conditions. Traditional methods, which manly depend on manully recording the monitoring data, are very inconvenient and low efficient. In order to adapt to the social development and protect the surrounding environment of power plant, it is imperative to perform automatic monitoring for coal-fired power plants.Through the study of coal-fired power plant environment, a set of automatic monitoring system with on-line automatic analysis instrument is realized in coal-fired power plant environment. This system uses modern technology of sensors, automatic measurement technology, automatic control technology, computer technology and related special analysis software and communication network, and constitutes a comprehensive on-line automatic monitoring system.Based on the design and research of the coal-fired power plant environment automatic monitoring system, this thesis realizes the integration of monitoring resources, and forms the hierarchical structure of automatic monitoring system. Besides that, it studies the design and implementation of subsystems such as the air quality monitoring subsystem, fixed source gas automatic monitoring subsystem, water quality monitoring subsystem, noise on-line automatic monitoring subsystem, video surveillance subsystem, center, GPRS terminal and transmission system. At the same time, the data interface and data communication are solved. Thus data collection, inquiry, statistics and analysis can easily be done by B/S artitecture.Although this system is specially designed for coal-fired power plant environment monitoring and design, it may be easily used to other fields of application according to actual needs. This system has been used in the power plant with which the author affiliates. The responses show that this system has friendly user interface, strong online help function, easy to learn and operate, safe and reliable, having good fault-tolerance. The development objectives are achieved and can be used in coal-fired power plants.
