The camouflage technique as a high technique is called the latest three greatest technique achievements in the military science with the laser weapon, cruise missile. According to the target characteristic, the camouflage technique can be divided into visible light camouflage technique, radar or microwave camouflage technique, infrared camouflage technique, laser camouflage technique and sound camouflage technique. With the laser technique is developed increasingly and used widely, the laser camouflage technique is a new topic. The work method of the military laser equipment is divided into mostly two kinds: A kind is to shoot the laser toward target, then receive to reflect the wave, for example ranging, the half active laser guidance; Another kind is that a laser beam project light upon to the target directly, for example the making-blind weapon. Therefore, as long as adopt a certain measure, we reduce significantly the strength of the other side laser beam, we can immediately achieve the laser camouflage function. The request of the laser camouflage technique to the laser camouflage coating material is that the wave band is wide, and overlay all work wave-length of the laser probe and theguidance system: red ruby laser 0.6943μm (14409.2cm-1) , GaAs laser 0.9μm (1111.1cm-1), Nd: YAG laser 1.064μm (9398.5cm-1 ), Raman Nd: YAG laser and erbium glass laser 1.54μm(6493.5cm-1 and CO2 laser 10.6μm (943.4cm-1) .These years, with the developing of intersectional study, more materials may be chosen as the camouflage material. The character of the camouflage material will be enhanced much with the application of nanotechnology in the preparation of the camouflage materials. The capability of the camouflage material will be advanced with the composite of more kind materials. The nanoscale materials are used for the camouflage material that will occupy the important position in the camouflage technique. Our country contains abundant the rare earth resources, the rare earth oxide has very strong absorption to the near infrared band, so the rare earth oxide is the absorber of the laser camouflage material probably.A study of synthesis and infrared absorbency of the nanoscale material and the nanoscale composite material is reported in this paper, in order to exploiting new camouflage material.
