The low frequency electromagnetic fields (LF-EMF), containing the electro- magnetic fields(EMF) irradiated by High-Voltage Transmission Lines(HVTL), exist widely in our living environment, at present. The harms of LF-EMF on human health have become a considerable and concerned problem for people. In this thesis, we investigate mainly the influences of LF-EMF irradiated by HVTL on one signal transduction pathway of cell, JAK-STAT pathway. Meanwhile, the effects of LF-EMF on theβ-endorphin(EP) expression in pituitary and ovarian of rats are also studied. The studies have great important meaning to understand the biological effects of LF-EMF, which can provide some valuable information for establishing the safe criterion of EMF.In the investigation of the influences of LF-EMF irradiated by HVTL on the JAK-STAT signal transduction pathway, 32 Wister rats are divided randomly into experiment and control group. The rats in the experiment group are exposed in the electromagnetic radiation of HVTL ( E=4000v/m, B=0.1G) about 400 days, and the rats of control group are raised in the same condition without irradiation. The spleen cells are extracted from excuted rats after 400 days. The concentration of phosphorylated- STAT3 in the spleen cells are detected by the methods of Immunoprecipitation and Immunoblotting for determining the influences of electromagnetic irradiation of HVTL on JAK-STAT signal transduction pathway. In addition, The spectra of infrared absorption for the total proteins in the spleen cells are obtained by FTIR spectrometer to observe the configurable change of proteins in the spleen cells. In the experiment of effects of LF-EMF on theβ- EP expression of rats, wistar rats are exposed in LF-EMF and the expression ofβ- EP in pituitary and ovarian in rats are observed by the methods of Immunohistochemistry to reveal the effects of LF-EMF onβ- EP expression in pituitary and ovarian of rats. The results show that: 1. The concentrations of phosphorylated-STAT3 in the spleen cells, which are unstimulated with IL-2, have no significant difference between the experimental and control group; when the cells are stimulated by IL-2 the concentrations of phosphorylated-STAT3 in the two groups are increased simultaneously,...
