Since the rapid development of the industry and agriculture, the high voltage transmission lines (HVTL) are widespread in the envrionment. The health risks posed by electromagnetic fields of HVTL attract our attentions. In this thesis, the effects of electromagnetic fields of HVTL on the proliferation of fibroblast cell in vitro have been investigated. The experimental materials in this paper are mice fibroblast cell line L929. The effects of the electromagnetic fields of HVTL (f=50Hz, E=4000V/m, B=0.1G) exposure on morphology, cell proliferation, cell cycle and apoptosis are investigated by the methods of phase contrast microscope, MTT colorimetric assay, agarose gel electrophoresis and flow cytometry. The main results are as follows:1. The L929 represented the unremarkable colonies, low speed of growth and differentiation, reduced density as well as shrinking of synapsis along with time of the electromagnetic fields of HVTL exposure.2. The result of MTT colorimetric assay revealed that the proliferation of L929 exposed by the electromagnetic fields of HVTL and the electric fields could be significantly inhibited in comparison to the control group (P<0.05). On the contrary, exposed to the magnetic fields could significantly stimulate the proliferation of L929 (P<0.05). The result showed that the effects of the electric fields and the magnetic fields of HVTL on proliferation were different.3. After exposing to the electromagnetic fields of HVTL from 0 to 100 minute, apoptosis of L929 wasn't observed through the agarose gel electrophoresis.4. FCM analysis showed that the L929 cell cycles of the electromagnetic fields of HVTL exposure groups were blocked in G0/1 and G2-M.In summary, these results demonstrated that the electromagnetic fields of HVTL exposure have effect on inhibition of proliferation and cell cycle of L929 but no effect on apoptosis. Meanwhile, the electric fields of HVTL play a chief role on above effects.
