The soft soil in South city of Kunming is a typical internal continental type soft soil. It's endangering is becoming bigger and bigger, along with the city construction development, which makes huge regional surface sedimentation, besides affecting on general engineering safety. In order to study, prevent and treat the soft soil endangering, we should initially make clear on the soft soil type and study on its physical mechanics feature.The south city of Kunming is closed to the water body of Lake Dianchi and the underground water is shallow to the surface: the structure changes greatly at Quaternary strata, the consolidation intensity of non- belted lake sedimentation facies sediment soil is very low, its clay soil feature and differentiation are predominant, the engineering feature of shallow layer soil body is limited and this area is definitely controlled by its new structure action. Such hydro-geological engineering geology condition is the geological source of soft soil problem and also an inner reason of controlling soft soil endangering.The soft soil physical mechanics feature, at south city of Kunming, is determined by its chemical composite and structure. According to the mineral granular size, clay grain percentage and organics percentage, the soft soil, in this area, is divided into sub-sand-soil, sub-clay, clay, organic soil and silt, totally five types.Based on using R type gene analysis method to correct the inside experimental data on soil, the main controlling physical mechanics parameter of the various type soft soil is totally porous ratio and hydra percentage, but the other parameters have certain relationship with the upper two ones or can be made out by formula. According to the simulating result, by Smallest Two-Multiply Method, on the physical mechanics parameter pertinence among the various type soft soil, the pertinence, among porous ratio, hydra percentage, natural density, hydra limitation, plastic limitation, plastic stress index and organics percentage, is good, while the pertinence, among sampling depth, pressure modelgrade, inner converging power and inner friction angle, is just so.According to the comparing result on physical mechanics parameter pertinence equation between south city of Kunming and other native area, the soft soil in south city of Kunming has bigger porous ratio and higher hydra percentage properties than the ones in other native area.Finally, based on the statement of soft soil type and physical mechanics parameter pertinence in south city of Kunming, the next deeper study direction on soft soil in south city of Kunming is taken out in this paper.
