The microstructure of 15 species of the Genus Iris from North China were studied, and the connection between microstructure and taxonomic status, living environment was discussed according to classical taxonomy.Iris.pseudacorus L. and I.maackii Maxim. are very similar in flower and vegetal body, but the distributing area is insulate, I.pseudacorus L. is from Europe while I.maackii Maxim. distributes in Heilongjiang province which belongs to East Asia, so the present paper suggests that I.maackii Maxim. should be a subspecies: I.pseudocorus L. subsp. maackii (Maxim.) M.Z.Sun et Y.T.Zhao stat.nov.As the microstructure, flower and vegetal body are different, I.pandurata Maxim. and I. tigridia Bunge are independent species. The similar microstructure, flower, vegetal body and living environment of I.typhifolia Kitag. and I.sanguinea Donn ex Horn. provided evidence that the two species have closer relation-ship.I. odaesanensis N. Lee was gathered in Zhenzhumen, Linjiang, Jilin province, a new record of Chinese plants. Some characters related to xeromorphy or helomorphy were discussed.
