Dichroic Beam Combiner (DBC) used for HWIL simulator is the key technique of the mmW/IR dual mode simulation. The main use of this element is to divide the EM field in IR band and mmW band. It is very important to have a deep research on the Dichroic Beam Combiner (DBC),and do an experimental test on it,so as to remedy the vacancy in china of this area. The maturest method of designing the DBC in USA is making a dielectric slab with IR reflective coating. It is also a new thinking to design an full-dimensional high-reflective coating by means of one dimensional photonic crystal technology. The result from calculating the band gap of one-dimensional photonic crystal and from calculating using thin film theory are both presented. The insertion of the DBC will result in the aberrance of the EM field. The model of the EM field is presented, and some numerical result is given. The principle of the selection of film material and slice material is put forward because of the particularity of the DBC. The particular contrast and selection is presented. The quartenvave film stack based on one dimensional photonic crystal technology is designed. The measurement of the IR band is relatively mutual while that of mmW band is lack of report. The reflectivity of IR area(3-5 m)by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer(FT-IR) is given, and the experimental data of mmW band in Microwave Network Analysis is also given.
