Based on combining geological methods with remote-sensing methods, the environmental geology settings, characteristics of landslides and its disciplinarian of formation in Bailuyuan are summarized; With theory of landslides prediction as guides, by using synthetically analytical method of causes and Kerman sieve wave analysis method,the stability of slope and distribution of landslides on spaces and times are studied in Bailuyuan; Some suggestions on prevention and management of landslides are put forwards. The details are as follows.1. Disciplinarian of landslides formationThere are many factors that charge to the occurring of landslides in Bailuyuan. The factor of static state and factor of dynamic state are summarized in this paper. The former concludes factor of stratum combination, factor of grade and factor of highness of slopes. The later concludes factor of rainfall, factor of earthquake and factor of human being.The factors of static state play a key role on spaces distribution of landslides in Bailuyuan area.The factors of dynamic state play a key role on times distribution of landslides in Bailuyuan area and the factor of rainfall is the most important among them.2. Spaces distribution prediction on landslides in Bailuyuan areaThe characteristics of segments in slope are not the same as each other. Therefore, there are some differences in stability in terms of different segments. The segment of Baihe side lack of stability on the whole, the same as lower reaches of Jinyugou and Guliu segment of Chanhe side, which are unstable obviously.3. Time distribution prediction on landslides in Bailuyuan areaThere is a very good relativity between occurring of landsides and rainfall in Bailuyuan area. According to the data of weather in Bailuyuan area, using Kerman sieve wave analysis method, the conclusion that there are 5 years short cycle, 10 years middle cycle and 20 years long cycle in rainfall of Bailuyuan area are put forward. Hence, the judgment that there be a concentrated occurring of landslides in 2003 are made. Meanwhile, the difference andregulation of rainfall in different neighbour area are discovered, and prediction of rainfall in Bailuyuan area can be made according to the rainfall information of Ninqiang county, therefore, the prevention methods of landslides can be made ahead of time.4. Prevention and management of landslides in Bailuyuan area Prevention and management of landslides is a all-around job, which conclude popularization of landslides knowledge, enhancing the sense of geological environmental protection of entire society; taking effective biological methods to improve the total environment of Bailuyuan area, restraining the occurring of landslides radically; using properly engineering methods, enforcing the stability of slope directly to prevent the occurring of landslides.
