The studies on distribution and community structure of rodentsin desert region of Alashan in Inner Mongolia showed that therodents belong to 2 orders, 6 families and 24 species, and two newrecord species were found in the region. The rodents also belong to9 distribution patterns of 3 types. The division about thezoogeographical regions was divided according to rodentscharacteristics of fauna. The fast cluster method of SPSS 10.0 systemwas used and the rodent communities were divided into 6 types inaccordance with characteristics of topography and vegetation in thedesert region. The analysis about distribution and diversity of rodentcommunities showed they were unique. This paper also analysed therelativity between ecological factors and the number of species ofrodents in the desert region, with which three harmful types weredivided and some strategies of rodents under control were realized.
