An investigation on ovny of cricket, Teleogrllus emma (OhInachi &Matsuura) is reported in the present paper, which include several aspects. First, the microstructures of preovulatory oocytes and stages of developing oocyteshave been observed by ligh microscope. Three phases and seven stages can becovered in all oocytes growth, and yolk formation period can be identified bytheir special characters in those phases.Secondly, the trends of RNA and DNA in the oocytes and follicular cells aredisplayed by histochemical method during oogenesis, which indicate that RNAand DNA are synthesized by the oocyte obviously at the former three stages. Then their synthese speed slows down. But the synthese of RNA and DNA inthe follicular cell is continuous during vitellogenesis, which may relate toformation of livetin.Last, the ultrastructure of the oocyte and follicular cells have been checkedby electron microscope. According to the observation, the behaviours of thefollicular cell not only relate to filter of the extraeous substance which wanthrough the follicular cell into oocyte, but also process and compose somesubstance for oocyte during vitellogenesis.
