Seed characteristics and germination condition of Ammopiptanthus nanuswere studied, the result was shown that the vermiculous ratio of fruit and seed in fieldwere 63. 67% and 25.16% respectively, setting percentage was 76.12%, size of seedwas (6.232±0. 14)mm×(4.917±0.25)mm×(1.609±0.1)mm, ratio of imperfect seedwas 3.15%, and weight of one thousand perfect and imperfect seed was 35.63g and 18.36g respectively. The optimal germination condition was 2cm in depth in river sand, sand moisture was 20%, illumination conditionwas 14 h/10 h (day/night) , temperature was 30 /10 .Characteristics of Gas Exchange in Leaves of Ammopiptanthus nanus were studied usingLi-6400 portable photosynthesis analyzer determined net photosynthetic rate, transpirationrate, stomatal conductance Photosynthetic and other indicators, results showed that: four different growth stages of Ammopiptanthus nanus the net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate and stomatal conductance were difference.The present paper deals with a karyotype of two populations of the Ammopiptanthus nanusThe chromosome numbers in root-tlp ceils of these two populations are both 2n= 18 Thekaryotvpe formulas of the two populations are as follows: Population A K(2n)=18=10sm+6m+2m(sat); Population B K(2n)=18=6sm+12m,Resulu obtained through chromosome examination have shown that they both belong to"2A"type of Stebbins'karyotypic asymmetry.
