Mathematics composes the inner melody of nature and human society with the spatial form and quantitative relations.It discloses the essence of the world to show us the sense of beauty with its brief and exquisite formulas.Among all of its beauty,briefness is the first and formost to be high-praised,which impressed me deeply during my studying and teaching.Things brief are easy for students to remember and this also plays an important role to help the students analyze,calculate and do the logical arguments.The article first introduces the definition on the beauty of mathematics ,its briefness symmetry,unification and singularity.The arduous efforts by the predecessors on probing into the beauty of mathematics are also mentioned.Then the effects of briefness are expounded,indicating that briefness is not only the beauty of expression,but also owns the characters of the beauty of symmetry,unification and singularity.Some mathematicians'theories and their experience of creating cited further improve that the pursuit of briefness is the driving force of the creativity on mathematics;then under the guidance of the New Curriculum Standard,the plentiful exercises tactics can be avoided since we adopt the case-teaching approach on mathematics with the neat blackboard writing;last but not the least,the negative effects on the beauty of briefness—lack the generation process and fail to respect the mental mechanism—are revealed from the following two aspects:teachers'stressing on the knowledge during the teaching process and the approach of texbook writing—processes over and above outcomes;and the reform proposals are put forward in accordance with the knowledge points—paying more attention to the researching process.
