There is more and more requirement for people to share and interoperate all kinds of geographic information based on GIS with its development and enlarging of application. However, there are many difficults in sharing and interoperating geographic information because of the differences in geographic data model, data content, data source and GIS platform.Prensently, the main way of sharing and interoperating geographic information is traditional style that is sharing data in the way of spatial data transforming, and interoperating data in the way of read data directly. On the base of research the relative domestic and external development, disadvantages of traditional style are pointed out in this paper. It is recommended to use Web Service technology, especially import WFS-T criterion of OGC to interoperate spatial data.Start with discussing styles of sharing and interoperating geographic information. This paper introduces the relation of sharing and interoperating. Then introduces Web Service and relative criterion of OGC, especially discusses geographic marker language (GML) and Web feature service (WFS). So they form integrated system info. This paper constructes realization frame of geographic information sharing and interoperating based on Web Service. Then, this paper explains every step form data source to server finally to client. In the end feasible application system is formed. Finally, display and edit online of multi-source and heterogeneous spatial data are realized on the basis of this frame. Meanwhile, validate the Web Service technology is feasible on geographic information sharing and interoperating. The superiority of WFS-T on interoperating is also validated. End with pointing out a feasible way for geographic information sharing and interoperating.
