In general, platinum, palladium as the form of trace or ultra-trace exist in the system of geology, are closely associated with each other, and own similar electrical structure and chemical properties. These elements make it very difficult to separation and determination of platinum, palladium. The velocity and accuracy of determination of platinum, palladium have greatly restricted their own further study in mineral processing and other relative domains. Therefore, accurate determination of platinum, palladium from geological and environmental samples are working for a long time as one of the main research for analytical chemical worker.Capillary electrophoresis, as a fast, efficientan test technology, has become one of the most useful analytical methods in the study of environmental chemistry. So, In order to develope capillary electrophoresis analysis method of platinum, palladium in samples, the investigation analytical in the determination of platinum, palladium chloride complexes and thiocyanate complexes with capillary electrophoresis, with the meaure of capillary zone electrophoresis(CZE) and UV detection, was described.(1)The nature of platinum, palladium chloride complex was discussed. To the sample solution excessive amount of concentrated hydrochloric acid and oxidant (H2O2) was added, the mixture was fumed to dryness.(2)The system of sodium chloride is the suitable buffer solution among five different buffer system compared experiments, the comparison of the peak.(3)The separation of platinum, palladium chloride complex by capillary electrophoresis has been investigated when the background electrolyte and buffer was sodium chloride. The influence of wavelength detection, pH, concentration of chloride in background electrolyte, additive, voltage, and other factors of the capillary electrophoresis has been considered. In the optimum condition, platinum and palladium chloride complexs could be separation each other completely within 10 minutes. Quantitative analysis has been also carried out under this conditions.(4)The effect of molar ratio, time of heating and pH on formation of platinum, palladium thiocyanate complexes was investigated and the preparation process of platinum, palladium thiocyanate complex has been confirmed. (5)Through the contrast experiments of different background electrolyte buffer solution, potassium thiocyanate was selected as the buffer system. As the same time, other separation and detection parameters were also optimized. Thus, the optimum condition of separation of platinum, palladium thiocyanate complexes was finded. And under the conditions optimized, quantitative analysis were carried out. Finally good agreement of the platinum and palladium content with the declared value was obtained in nature sample analysis. In the end, a capillary electrophoresis analysis method of platinum, palladium in samples has been preliminarily establishd in this subject, and we hope that, it can provide great support of reliable and scientific analytical data to the mineral processing, metallurgy of platinum group metals and the related domain to improve the efficiency of scientific research and validity of research results.
