By comparing the characteristic between CBR and GIS, GIS has flaw in data expression and lacks of spatial reasoning. The two have the advantages of complementarity. It proposed the demand of exploring the process data model suitable to spatial reasoning. Based on the spatiotemporal cognition and analysis of spatiotemporal relationships, the geographical case was studied. The concept of process case was proposed, and then summarizes the characteristics of the process cases. After summing up the existing expression model of CBR, compared the characteristics of models used in time and space domain. The existing space and time models of GIS were analyzed, obtaining the main problem of directly using them in case reasoning. It is concluded that CBR model used little in Spatiotemporal domain, meanwhile analysis the main causes. The problems and difficulties of expressing case in time and space field were summarized. Based on the Spatiotemporal multi-scale representation and the characteristic of case organization, it was proposed the described framework of multi-scale classification to express the process cases. In fact, the concept model of process case was represented from the view of contents and structure. Compared with the traditional representation, this model not only added the shape of the studied object but also taking the temporal relationship between cases. The CBR method could be used from static field to the dynamic domain, while the GIS could not be used only in spatial expression but also in spatial reasoning. The model can be applied to vector and raster data of GIS. The physical expression method is given too. Finally, the verification experiment of the model is carried out using the South China Sea area vortexes. It is proved the expressed model is feasibility, by the actual reasoning and calculation of CBR method. At last, the advantages and disadvantages of the representation model are evaluated and obtained the application scope of the model. Therefore, the study of representing the process model based on case is not only the application basic theory of CBR used in geological area but also enhance the ability of GIS in spatial reasoning.
