In this thesis, the theoretical model is proposed based on the literature review towards job evaluation, business line managers'participation in human resource management activities and other major concepts. According to the theoretical model, the impact of business line manager's participation on job evaluation has been discussed. And this paper explores the logical relationship between advocates'behaviors, business line managers'participation, business line managers'perception, three important factors influencing job evaluation results and the impact on Job evaluation deeply.This research employs in-depth case study method. The case is in the context of a business unit in an American company which has just completed a Job Evaluation project successfully.The theoretical model about the impact of business line managers'participation to Job Evaluation results is modified based on the data analysis of case study. In addition, the specific content of different variables and the interaction of these variables in the theoretical model are analyzed, followed by findings. Impetus from HR and headquarter has positive influence on business line managers'participation in communication activities and job analysis, as well as on their perception of job evaluation. In the mean time, line managers'perception can affect their participation positively. Furthermore, the more involvement in communication and work analysis of line managers the more credible and accurate job evaluation result is. Finally, the greater job title and organization size, the more impact of line managers'participation on the credibility and accuracy of job evaluation results is.This study contributes to the literature regarding to job evaluation. And it has some implication for business line managers and human resource management professionals.
