Job satisfaction is an emotional feeling about individual perception and evaluation of work, based on which the emotional reflection about general work or diversified evaluating elements is formed. And in turn, the emotion would affect individual's behavior at work. Study shows that employee job satisfaction is closely related with organizational effectiveness. Employees with high job satisfaction are more likely to adopt a positive approach at work, while those with low job satisfaction tend to go slow. This phenomenon is even more prominent in the service industry in which human resource act as the core competitiveness. Perceived supervisory support is a perception of individuals on how their supervisors value their contribution and care for their well-being in general. The behavior of supervisor will affect all aspects of his subordinates at work. For instance, whether he support his subordinates effectively or implement proper reward and punishment may have a major impact on the job satisfaction of employees. There are very few studies about perceived supervisory support in China at present, let alone those related to service industry. Thus, research on PSS and job satisfaction of the service industry is of great theoretical and practical significance. Based on the study of existing literature, we use empirical analysis through the method of questionnaire to discuss the relationship between PSS and job satisfaction. In this paper, we did a survey among the staff of domestic service companies mainly from the city of Chengdu, Shenzhen and Beijing, involving companies of banking, securities, consulting, catering, tourism and so on, with 216 valid questionnaires returned. After a series of statistical analysis on the collected data, we draw the following findings:1. In the analysis of demographic variables, we found that gender has an impact on employee job satisfaction, generally, male gets higher job satisfaction than female. However, other factors such as age, education and length of service have no impact on job satisfaction. On the other hand, length of service and length of time with supervisor has an impact on PSS, while others don't.2. Results showed that PSS is significantly and positively correlated with job satisfaction. Specially, the practice of individual development and working support has a direct impact on employment and promotion satisfaction. Caring about well-beings has a direct impact on supervisor satisfaction. The contribution of this study mainly includes the following aspects:1. Built a model to research the relationship between PSS and job satisfaction both as a whole and their various dimensions based on the service business.2. Did empirical analysis of the relationship between PSS and job satisfaction, and had most of the hypothesizes supported.
