With the pace of economic globalization, cultural industry has become one of the most dynamic sectors of the world economy. Video trade as a core part of culture and trade, has developed rapidly recently and it would account for bigger and bigger percent in the total value of the world trade. However, China's video products are far from outstanding enough to draw the world's attention and just take a small share in the international market, which forms a huge contrast with the status of Chinese "Top One" in total value of exports. China's film industry faces enormous challenges. So the study of Chinese film and television trade imbalance not only has theoretical value, but also has practical significance.Firstly, this paper uses international trade-related theory of cultural trade in deeper level of analysis, focusing on new trade theory beyond the classical theory of international trade. And with China's reality from the products of movies and TV, it comprehensively expounded China's film and television trade development status and a deficit of situation. On this basis, the profound analysis of various factors on the impact of film and television trade imbalance that restrict the development of China's external trade, the main reason for film and television not only from the government's promotion policy is not sound, but also from China's film and television industry, the industry's own strand breaks deficiencies in areas such as particular emphasis on financing for film and television industry limitations. This paper built the international competitiveness of film and television industry with Gray System theory applied, a comprehensive evaluation system of China and the world's major film and television industry, and the competitiveness of the country have been measured and compared. Concluded that the products of film and television over the international competitiveness of the product weak, this is one of the most important reasons for trade imbalance between China's film and TV trade. By reference to the United States, South Korea's successful experience in film and television trade, this paper argues that the Government's strong support is crucial, and this is exactly the trade imbalance is to improve the film one of the recommendations.Author argues that to develop better, China's film and television industry not only improve all aspects of film and television industry chain to increase the added value of each link, but also attach importance to a variety of sources of capital financing, actively respond to trade in film and television barriers.
