An Empirical Analysis About Technology Spillovers Of FDI On China's High-tech Industries In Different Phrases

Since three decades of the reform and opening up, FDI has exerted profound impact on China's economic development. In particular, since China's accession to WTO, foreign direct investment continues to accumulate.We can see from the foreign documents that FDI spillovers occur periodically change in the late.Therefore, the sustainability of FDI spillovers has attracted extensive attention. High-tech industry is a pillar industry of China, FDI is also involved in the industry. Analysis of high-tech industry has made us more rational understanding of the role of foreign investment.The basic structure of this thesis as follows: the first chapter is the introduction, including the background, concepts and research significance, ideas and methods. The second chapter is related to perspectives of philosophy and literature review, including literatures about FDI spillovers, phase analysis of FDI spillovers and studys of high-tech industry.The third chapter is the theoretical analysis of high-tech industry and development of FDI in China.Chapter IV is the thesis focuses, we used two-mechanism model on FDI technology spillover effect in our empirical analysis within the high-tech industry. Chapter V is the interpretation of the results of the fourth chapter. Chapter VI is the main conclusions and policy recommendations of the paper.In this paper, on the basis of the summary of relevant documents, by using statistical analysis, econometric analysis and data on high-tech industry in China from 1995 to 2007, we analyze the phase change characteristics on FDI spillover effects, We can draw the following conclusions: 1.Foreign enterprises has gradually become the leading force in the development of high-tech industry.2. In the early of foreign direct investment into China, the technology spillover effect of local enterprisesare are mainly contribute to the accumulation of effects. Then, the effect of concentration of foreign-funded enterprises gradually weaken, the spillover effects of foreign efficiency gradually dominated, slowly replacing the spillover effect of the accumulation of foreign-funded enterprises.3. Variation of the efficiency effect is due that the smaller productivity gap between the domestic and foreign enterprises can stimulate the emergence of the efficiency spillover effect. The significantly reducetion of concentration spillover effects is related to features of the domestic market demand and the changes in the meaning of"learning effect".
