Risk Management Of Tianyin Brew UiOne Project

China has entered into 3G era, operators are offering many great applications to the consumers through its 3G high speed data capability. China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom all had planned about 20-30 services. Handset UI is a very important factor to attract users to experience these services. Apple' iphone has become a great success, and the main reason is that it has a wonderful UI, so a lot of later handset OEMs are trying to follow and copy iphone' success story.Tianyi-BREW limited company is a joint-venture of China Telecom and Qualcomm, Tianyi-BREW is autherized to study and deploy CDMA personalized dynamic UI service. The uiOne technology is going to be selected by China Telecom as the solution to CDMA based personalized dynamic handset UI. The author of this paper was assigned by Qualcomm to join the Tianyi-BREW project team as the project director to lead the anaylisis and evaluation of this project.This paper uses the project management theory and risk management theory, to effectively identify the potential risks if Tianyi-BREW invests and deploys uiOne solution. The risks are put into 5 types:external risk, project management risk, people risk, financial risk and technology risk. The paper gives a quantitative analysis on each risk using "Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method" and AHP analysis method, further more it uses the sensitivity analysis method to make a deep financial risk anaylysis. Lastly the paper provides the suggestion and method on how to monitor and respond to the 5 types of risks.
