Under the circumstances of Supply Chain, Inventory Management is a great part of Supply Chain Management. As a new inventory model of Supply Chain Management, Vendor Managed Inventory(VMI) has been applied by the overseas companies widely and successfully. However, Supply Chain Management does not develop maturely at home thereby the inventory level of upstream corporations tend to be higher whereas those of the downstream be lower after there implements VMI. And that's the crux why VMI is hard to carry out.On the foundation of summarizing the history, status quo and development of VMI, this thesis proposes a new model of VMI based on Value Stream, aimed at the problem that upstream suppliers bear the higher inventory. From the perspective of Supply Chain, using analysis tools of Value Stream and Value Stream Mapping, depict the demands of customers, logistics of products, information flows of major suppliers, then identify the crucial processes what need improve and, finally, raise the indexes of Lean Production in order to satisfy the requirements of Future State Map. Consequently, reduce the inventory of the holistic Supply Chain, better the performance of the whole system, optimize the logistics of Supply Chain. The thesis has instructional meaning for implementation of VMI.
