Localized Study For The City Of Hanzhong

With the emphasis on cities, the competition among cities is increasing. How to keep sustainable development is the core of cities'strategic plan. The settlement of cities'development direction, the building of their competitive power, the digging of cities'spirituality and how to promote their images are main topics that they are focusing on. From the report on China Cities'development, we can see that Hanzhong was in leading positions in Southern area of Shanxi province on its economic productivity and velocity of development. It is also in upper middle level in the border cities of Shanxi, Sichuan, Gansu and Chongqing. However, compared to the cities in northern and middle area of Shanxi province, Hanzhong is at lower level. Therefore, Hanzhong is not competitive enough in large area or in China. The core of the problem is that its industry, which is the motive of economics, is not developing fast enough. While how to create strategic plan for developing industry will depend on the Hanzhong's development direction. Therefore, when we are making the settlement for its developing direction, we need to determine"whom it is,"and then"what it needs to do,"and"how it will do it."The direction settlement will need to not only point out the city's developing driving force, but also figure out its differences and specialty.This article performs analyses on Hanzhong's economic condition and its relationship with Xi'an by combining macro analysis on background, cities'developing trends, relative theories, demands for developing in Xi'an and Hanzhong and SWOT analysis. With this analysis and other cities'cases and examples, I conclude that in one aspect, Hanzhong plays an important role in Xi'an's developing plan. Xi'an needs to open up its circulation channels to Hanzhong to achieve both of their success. In the other, people's expectations for Hanzhong are far above the city's current situation, which means that it is necessary for Hanzhong to make its developing plan. Combining the economic theory with Hanzhong's rich resources, we could prove that Hanzhong should develop along with Xi'an by using its resources and experiences. Hanzhong should create and expand its value in cultural aspect, and be different with Xi'an. Last, after discovering the advantages of Hanzhong, there will be some actions it needs to take in order to integrate with Xi'an in politics, economics and culture, and complement in industry development. The ultimate goals to develop are to improve the city's quality, strengthen its leading position in southern Shanxi area and implement the plans.This field study will not only fill up the blank in such field study for Hanzhong, but also become a practical reference for future planning.
