As a communication mode, the ceremony is more and more popular in modern business organizations. Through the study of companys'culture, some well-known scholars found that the ceremony is an effective way to shaping and transferring corporate culture, but such researches currently only focused on the business management field. We use Mary Kay corporate ceremony as a sample in this thesis to analyze the characteristics and effectiveness of Mary Kay corporate ceremony. As a special means of communication, the ceremony stirs up participants'emotions and changes the mandatory of traditional downlink transmission, so the organizational communication is much more effective because members actively involved in it. Periodical corporate ceremony not only improves the efficiency of organizational communication, but also greatly increases the cohesion of the enterprise.The first part of this thesis outlines the background of this study. Through the author's personal experience of Mary Kay's ceremony and the interviews with staff attending the, the author descript the company's diverse ceremonies.The second part analyzes the three characteristics of Mary Kay's ceremony from the organizational communication perspective:a sense of role in the ceremony, cultural performances and symbols.The third part analyzes the effectiveness of the ceremony and draws a conclusion. The emotions of participants are sparked by the ceremony, so it improves the efficiency of organizational communication. In addition, the ceremony increases staff's loyalty, creates and disseminates the corporate culture, which enhance the cohesion of the enterprise.
