Government plays a vital and special role in development of the pharmaceutical industry. The public and pharmaceutical both expect the government to take its responsibility and support the healthy development of the pharmaceutical industry. The Jilin provincial government has targeted the pharmaceutical industry as Jilin Province's pillar industry by 2012. To achieve the goal, the provincial government plans to strengthen its role in both public medical care and medicine monitoring. The efforts are expected to pave the way for the long-term development of pharmaceutical industry in Jilin Province.Ⅰ,government's role in the development of pharmaceutical industry The government's role in the development of pharmaceutical industry is to intervene the market-oriented industry on concerns of social fairness and public interest.The government's role lies mainly in to aspects- providing public service and monitoring the medicine sector.(Ⅰ)the definition of government responsibility First specify the definition of government responsibility. Supporting the local pharmaceutical companies on brand building, innovation and M&A activities.Secondly, the government to provide special support to the Chinese medicine industry. To help consolidate Jilin Province's leading position for the Chinese medicine industry in China and at the same time develop the bio medicine and chemical medicine. Develop the pharmaceutical equipments and medical service industry to perfect the industrial chain in the pharmaceutical industry.Thirdly, the government would help develop pharmaceutical industry clusters in Jilin Province, including the Changchun Bio-medicine Industrial Zone and the Tonghua Pharmaceutical Cluster.
