With the development of international and domestic container transportation and modern logistics industry, especially the establishment of the 18 railway center stations for container transportation in our country, the standardization of the operation in the railway station container yard and the improvement of the operating efficiency have become urgent problems to be solve. In order to make good organizations of contationer yard, reduce the numbers of exchanging the contationers yard and improe the operating efficiency, this paper based on the full analysing of relevant operating contents of the container yard and formulated a optimization model for solving container stacking problems. First, the container yard was divided into several areas according to the attribute of container transportation, like as the container area for sending, the container area for reaching, the international container area, Refrigerated container area, exclusive container area, empty container area, spare container area, container area for maintenance, container area for cleaning and sterilization and so on. These attributes were the attribute of container global district. Based on past status and regular customers, the container global district was divided into five areas according to different owners, the attributes of these five areas were defined the attribute of local district. It defined container stacking order for local district and Scattered cargo area to reduce yard fragment; Secondly, freedom of f was defined for bulk cargo area and layer degree of Q was defined for Scattered cargo area. The status of container's location will be changed with single container laying and fetching;Thirdly, In this paper, the stacking models were formulated in bulk cargo area based on the order of stacking container and the maximum sum of f and scattered cargo area based on the order of stacking containeres and the minimum sum of the F, and designed container stacking algorithm; Finally the analysis of the example showed that the algorithm is feasible and can adapt to the operations of dynamic container laying and fetching frequently. To a certain extent, this algorithm improved the efficiency of container yard operations.
