Urban tourism is an important function of the cities in Post-industrial society, therefore governments and researchers attach great attention to the construction and development of the functional Urban Tourism Business District(TBD).Its development has a direct influence on urban structures, recreactional environment, commercial patterns and urban features, and has become a key to a city whether has any attraction or not. However, the fact that the theoretical studies have fallen behind the practical researches must be improved directly. By integrating theory with practice, the paper tries to find the development strategies which is truly suitable for the features of the Jianghan Road TBD and enrich the theoretical studies of the Urban TBD.Relying on the core concept of the Urban TBD, this paper summarizes and draws on the successful examples of the American TBD——Baltimore Inner Harbor, and makes systematic generalizations and conclusions to the materials of planning and construction of Jianghan Road Tourism Business District by means of Literature Consultation. In the fourth chapter, with Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), it rationally utilizes the core data collection from subjective evaluations of Built Environment theory and makes in-depth analysis on Jianghan Road Tourism Business District (which is located in the commerical center of Wuhan) and the typical features of commerce, recreation and catering services of its three important nodes (Wanda-Jiali Area, Hankou Riverside Area, Baocheng Road-Kat Hing Street Area). Meanwhile, it finds out the root of the problems with comparative analysis, quantitative and qualitative analysis, cross-disciplinary methods. Finally, combining with the opportunities of regional development and present situation, some concrete planning suggestions are put forward on the basis of some relevant theory of TBD and the old city renewal. The conclusions are as follow:1) Relying on the concept of the old city renewal is a New idea for the development of the old city's TBD; 2) Jianghan Road Tourism Business District can promote its vitality and attraction by solving the problems of transportation, functions, environment, regional features, and public facilities; 3) This study provides a reference for theoretical studies by later generation.This paper finds some theoretical measures which stimulate the vitality and attraction of this region by a series of researches and is expected to achieve the purpose of enriching the theory and guiding the practice. |
