The Development And Research Of Folk Custom Tourism In Chongqing Shizhu Tujia Autonomous Country

With social development, tourism has become one of the most promising and largest industries in the global economy. As for China, it is estimated that if the tourism industry grows at the yearly average rate of 10.4% in the next decade, in 2020, China will become the first world tourist destination and the fourth tourist source country.Currently the international tourism industry is developing towards culture tourism. As a kind of high-quality culture traveling experience, folk custom tourism is specialized in promoting ethnic and folk cultures and presenting locally flavored ethnic glamour, which can satisfy tourists'intentions to seek novelty, acquire knowledge, discover resemblance, and retrieve the roots. This type of traveling is now regarded as latest fashion form which has optimistic market perspective, showing evidence of growth.Tujia nationality is one of Chinese nationalities with a long history and deeply accumulated culture. Throughout the history, it has created a unique and colorful Tujia culture. Tujia people have established a set of customs with striking ethnic characteristics ranging from daily routines, marriage and funeral, childbearing and education to recreations.Chongqing Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County is located at the east of Chongqing and on the Three Gorges Golden Travel Route along the Changjiang River. The total population in this county is 520,000, 72% of which are Tujia nationality. Inside this region, there are abundant folk-style traveling resources including Tujia stilted houses, hand-waving dance, local cuisines, native craftworks, as well as Xituo Ancient Town, Bizika Green Palace, Longhe Cliff-side Coffins, and other local specialties. This paper first introduces the relevant theories of folk custom tourism, the history and culture of Tujia nationality, and the features of traveling resources in Shizhu folk custom tourism. Based on these, the paper further analyzes the current situation in developing folk custom tourism and points out remaining problems with suggestions and countermeasures. All this will help the sustainable development of Shizhou folk custom tourism resources.
