Under the current trend of global economic integration, the competition of logistics markets in the world is becoming increasingly fierce, and the development of modern logistics economy begins to pay close attention to long-term benefits, regional and global strategy. With economic globalization and rapid development of science and technology, countries in the world naturally realize the importance of economic cooperation, especially the logistic cooperation, which is becoming a focus of global concern. Recently, to develop the logistic cooperation between South Korea and China has attracted a lot of attention. This paper presents the foundation and conditions of logistic cooperation and exchange between South Korea and China, analyzes the prospect of South Korean and Chinese logistics development, and discuses the framework for the two countries'logistic cooperation. It consists of six chapters and contents of each chapter are as follows.Chapter 1 is an introduction, which briefly gives the basic concepts of logistics, Chinese domestic and foreign research on logistics, and some theories related to logistics.Chapter 2 analyzes the current situation and characteristics of South Korean and Chinese logistics development. It respectively presents the development, prospect and planning of the South Korean and Chinese national logistics markets. Finally, it analyzes the current situation of the logistic infrastructure in South Korea and China from the perspective of four projects: the road, railway, port and aviation project. Conditions of logistics costs are also discussed.Chapter 3 analyzes South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation and its affects. First, it demonstrates the historical evidence of considerations on South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation. Though different countries, South Korea and China are close in geographical location and have profoundly influenced each other ever since. Second, it describes the current situation of South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation. South Korea and China share strong complementarity in logistics economy. The growing trade between these two countries promotes their collaboration in logistics field. Until now, almost all kinds of material transportation between the two countries rely on marine transport, but with increase of logistics quantity and development of science and technology, air transport is also playing an increasingly important role. This chapter also examines the characteristics of South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation, including linkage of regional issues, plurality of social and economic system, complementarity of resource and industrial structure, looseness of logistic cooperation, etc. It ends with analysis of the benefits that will be produced through South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation. The logistic cooperation projects between South Korea and China have both short-term and long-term effect. South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation will not only push forward the development of Korean and Chinese economy, but also greatly affect the economic development in Northeast Asia.Chapter 4 analyzes the strategies of South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation. It explains the nine logistic cooperation strategies South Korea adopted for China: correct understanding of Chinese laws and regulations; prior thorough investigation into Chinese logistics market; supplies of integrated logistic services based on IT; effective utilizations of the regions and enterprises which have entered; supports of South Korean government to Korean logistics enterprises in finance and taxation; promoting the standardization of logistic system; establishment of logistic aid organs; operation of the international logistics information center; cultivating professional logistics talents. The five logistic cooperation strategies China adopted for Korea is also explained. The Chinese government has attracted advanced world-class enterprises by taking advantage of the geographical characteristics of Shanghai and Hong Kong, and enlarged the construction of logistic infrastructure.Chapter 5 explores the problems existing in South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation, as well as the improving approaches. The South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation has good current situations and prospects, but there are still some problems. This chapter analyzes the logistics problems for South Korea and China, and through these analysis, it concludes seven methods for improvement of South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation, namely the improvement schemes. These methods are to strengthen the intermodal transportation system between South Korea and China; to enhance communication between them; to strengthen the connection of South Korean and Chinese road and railway; to reinforce the information technology collaboration; to strengthen the cooperation in logistics standardization; to enhance the governmental exchange and collaboration; to train the human resources.Chapter 6 summarizes the whole paper. The conclusion based on the analysis of South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation is that though South Korea and China are different countries, and undoubtedly there is competition between them, it is really necessary to build logistic cooperation between Korea and China. To achieve better logistic cooperation between the two countries, it needs non-governmental exchange other than the exchange between South Korean and Chinese governments. To further promote the logistic cooperation between the two countries, the division of South Korean and Chinese projects should be arranged properly. The fundamental target in South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation is to realize the optimization of logistics economic structure and the economic growth of the two countries through development of logistic cooperation, and it needs both the governmental and non-governmental efforts to complete.Due to the limitation of time and my language and professional skills, especially the lack of data on South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation, it was impossible for me to perform more in-depth analysis for some of the opinions about South Korean and Chinese logistic cooperation, which have to be left to future further analysis.
