Under the condition of global financial crisis, our government has taken an urgent measure of stimulating domestic demand to maintain China's economic growth. The developing practice of developed countries indicates that the rapid development of consumer credit has a significant meaning in stimulating domestic demand and promoting economic growth. With regards to this, this dissertation researches the relationship of consumer credit and the growth of GDP based on the domestic and foreign scholars'studies on the relationship between the consumer credit and economic growth by taking 11 years of Beijing's consumer credit data for samples. A conclusion has been drawn by Unit Root and Co-integration Test:Beijing's consumer credit is correlative with the growth of GDP, but not very strong. Then the dissertation analyzes Beijing's consumer credit constraints from two aspects of consumers and banks. For the consumers, traditional consumption habits, the lower revenues and the imperfect social security system are the key factors; for the banks, imperfect individual credit systems, a small variety of credit products and single supplying institution are the primary reasons. In conclusion, the dissertation brings forward proposals to further promote the development of consumer credit from the following respects of strengthening government's policy guidance, speeding up the individual credit system building and improving bank's internal risk management system.
