Evaluation Research On The Competitive Abilities Of Joint-stock Commercial Banks

Joint-stock commercial banks are products of economic development and financial system reform and have been become an important part of China's financial system. At the present, the number of nationwide emerging joint-stock banks has been reached 13. The flexible management system makes them active in financial market and become a powered army which promotes the national economy. The four major state-owned commercial banks have been finished the transformation into joint-stock. The management of them is more perfect. With the development of financial integration and the gradual opening of China's banking industry, the foreign banks develop rapidly and their status is more and more important. Under such a background, researching the competitiveness of joint-stock banks can find the respective competitive advantages and disadvantages of the four major state-owned commercial banks and emerging joint-stock banks and Chinese and foreign banks. This is an important supplementary of the present theory of competitiveness and also can provide a theoretical basis for the self-development of banks. On the other hand, it is of great practical significance for the state-owned banks to perfect the joint-stock reform, the emerging joint-stock banks to enhance their competitiveness and China's joint-stock banking industry to deal with the challenge of foreign banks. Besides, this paper also has some practical significance for how to deal with the present financial crisis. The combination with financial crisis is an important innovation of this paper.The first chapter of this paper introduces the background,significance,ideas,and method of the research. The second chapter reviews the status quo of theoretical study and lays the theoretical foundation for the full paper. The third chapter lays the methods foundation for the full paper with constructing evaluation index system of commercial banks. The fourth chapter ranks the 11 nationwide joint-stock commercial banks based on the comprehensive competitiveness with the factor analysis method and analyzes the rusult of study. The fifth chapter analyzes the competitiveness of Chinese and foreign banks with comparative analysis method. The sixth chapter provides different development strategy based on the respective features of state-owned banks and emerging joint-stock commercial banks. The last chapter points out the shortcoming of this paper and the prospect research.
