Research On Modern Service Industry's Contributions To National Economy

The development of global economy appears a new indication that is the service industry has playing a more and more important role in various countries and the high-service characteristics has being more and more apparent since the latter half of the 20th Century. China's "Eleventh Five-year Plan" has put forward to develop modern service industry, in order to change the economic development mode from manufacturing-led to modern service-led. However, we should know well about those issues: how does the China's modern service industry develop, can China's modern service industry become one of the China's economic main growth powers, can it promote the development of the secondary industry.This thesis summed up a wide range of study literatures at home and abroad to gain valuable research results. Then centering on the modern service industry's immense impacts on national economy, the paper discusses the connotation and statistical classification of modern service industry, the relationship between the modern service industry and economic growth, the interactive development between modern service industry and manufacturing industry, the correlative effect among industries. In this thesis, there have been some results through the use of comparative analysis and input-output analysis. The conclusion is as follows:1. This thesis has made the definition of modern service industry on the basis of various scholars' different definitions, and established the statistical classification system of modern service industry in accordance with the definition.2. The thesis has discussed the contribution of modern service industry on the national economy. Then demonstrated the relationship between modern service industry and manufacturing industry that is an interdependent interactive dynamic relation. At last, the paper pointed out that modern economic growth driving force comes from the blend of modern service industry and manufacturing industry's interactive development.3. The thesis has done the input-output analysis about United States and China's modern service industry on four input-output tables. The conclusions show that there is a big gap about modern service industry between china and USA, and the development of China's modern service industry has difficulties with a lack of demands and interactive development. To solve this issue, this thesis put forward some policy recommendations. Such as China's modern service industry should develop in a rational way, not a blind way.
