Nuo custom is passed from ancient times. It's an epidemic exorcist action, and would like a thanksgiving festival, which has been widely spread in different ethnic groups of many parts in our country. The goal is that it implores the God by the ghost except the epidemic disease, and blesses the common people to spend on the peaceful life. However, with the rapid development of productive forces of today's society, the existing space of traditional culture is narrow and small day after day, and the exorcist action has long been held out of people's lives. Nuo activity in many places has already completely withered away, and there is a little trail of Nuo activity only in some mountainous and villages far away from urban. But in Guichi area, the southern part of Anhui province, the Nuo opera has been sung for long time at spring festival. Because of its rich culture and relative ecology, the Guichi Nuo opera reflects the belief and the psychology of the local people, and shows the charm of the local culture. It has great influence on people's living and becomes a local tradition which has maintained the spirit of the pillars.
