Imbroglio Of National Right And Business Benefit-Study Of Guiyang Business Association (1937-1949)

Along with opening to the world and communication with western countries,business association,a factor of capitalism,emerged and developed slowly in modern China.In early 20th century,business association emerged in Guiyang.Its activities covered economic,political, cultural and social fields.It was an important social force in modern Guiyang history.The study researched Guiyang Business Association that was ignored by scholars and its choice of national right and business benefit during different historical scenes.The study has great academic value and realistic meaning.Guiyang Business Association experienced the following four phases:Guizhou Business Affairs Association,Guizhou Provincial Capital Business Association,Guiyang County Business Association,and Guiyang Business Association.The four phases has commonness on election system,organization structure and social function.Also,each phase was innovated and gradually evolved into businessman organization that assists government's economic and social development from a nongovernmental corporation.During the period of anti-Japanese war,Guiyang Business Association held the great flag of patriotism,supported anti-Japanese war and carried out all kinds of commonweal activities.Facing national rights, Guiyang Business Association cut off business with Japan,disregarding its economic loss.When financial disorder and soaring price happened,it controlled price actively.Guiyang Business Association erected good commonweal visualization by charity and social relief,initiating education,and municipal construction.During n the liberation war period, Guiyang Business Association supported government's economic reform and break down of insurgency,in order to protect its own benefit.But,it broke from national government when faced benefit conflict with national government.Contrasting national right,the business association always chose self-interest of businessman.It was criticized by people at that time and in the future.Protecting businessman's benefit was the basic appeal of business association.But,national right was also the basic value of business association.The two values always conflict or interfere in special action choice.Guiyang Business Association always faced imbroglio of national right and business benefit.So,lots of verbalism and practice with paradox cannot avoid.
