With the development of researches on organizational behavior, the relationship between organization and employees has become the guts of management. Nowadays, people begin to focus more and more on a wholly new concept - employee engagement. Repeatedly, studies and surveys show us that employee engagement is the key factor that influences organization performance. As Jack Welch ever said,"Any company who wants to win by competition must manage to make its employees engaged."However, different people hold different understanding of employee engagement and some are confused the concept with that of employee satisfaction. Moreover, some of us even consider it as same as employee satisfaction. Based on previous researches and surveys, the thesis makes an attempt to clarify some of the questions, such as concept, layers and the ways of engagement measurement and improvement. And the main findings are listed as the followings:Firstly, an integrated concept of employee engagement is concluded, in which covers both individual and whole group aspects.Secondly, the author explained Theory X and Theory Y from a new point of view and thus, for the first time, this theory is inferred as a theoretical basis of employee engagement research.Based on the empirical correlation model, the thesis finally proposes a series of suggestions to enhance employee engagement from two respective angles of organizational management and HRM practices.
