Research On Choice Of Cycle Time For Product Line

Manufacturing costs and profit is the foundation which determines the vitality of business; Reducing costs and increasing profits is the eternal pursuit. The choice of the cycle time impact the production efficiency and manufacturing costs and profit to varying extent. In this paper, it put forward the method of choice and steps for the best cycle time, through researching and analyzing systematically and comprehensively the production efficiency, production costs, profits and the actual market demand conditions for assembly lines, respectively.Firstly, the article introduces the research status of Lean Production at home and abroad, and the characteristics of production lines and the necessary conditions for organizing production lines. Second, it clears the definition of cycle time and productivity, and analysis the relationship between cycle time and productivity. It arrives at the conclusions that the relationship between the balance and productivity is linear correlation. Being guided by Lean Production, it use the production line balancing theories and operation spot method to improve productivity, then propose the method of choice and steps for the best cycle time basing on the highest level of productivity. The method of choice for the proper cycle time basing on the costs minimum and the profit maximization, the article brings forward the model of the related manufacturing costs, and then propose the method of choice and steps for the best cycle time. Being guided by Lean Production, facing the actual market demand conditions, basing on previous research and analysis, the paper presents the method of choice for the proper cycle time during the assembly line design stage, as well as facing the market volatility, how to change the production line in order to fulfill the market demand, it also presents the method of choice and steps for the best cycle time.Finally, to the products DB-8A2S of an optical disk drive manufacturing company actual production as an example, basing on the research results of the previous theoretical analysis, it determines the appropriate cycle time of DB-8A2S during the assembly design stage, as well as facing the market volatility, it also determines the best program of changing the production line, the same as the best cycle time, respectively.
